Mission Statement

After experiencing growth this year, the consortium decided to revisit our mission statement. More accurately, we decided to actually write a formal one!

We had the great pleasure of working with Sheryl Chard at the Sofia Center in Albuquerque, NM. Sheryl led us to a phrase in three short weeks. She’s a pro!

Here is our statement:

Connecting vision with experience
by supporting peer-to-peer collaboration
between Capstone educators at all K-12 schools

This is a living statement that will evolve with us as we continue the transformative work of capstone education. This will be the lens that we use in the future, to plan our work and accept opportunities. This will be the guide rails that we travel on as we work with schools and people across the country.

I love our mission statement for many reasons. Most importantly, it will help us grow in smart and effective ways.

The word “vision” is all about the people and schools that see the profound potential of capstone, and “experience” is what the community can provide to these group to help them establish and grow their programs. This is about bringing together novice and veteran programs to create programming that fits the focal school.

Our work is achieved through the power of working together as partners. No matter what the level of experience or background, when capstone people get together, amazing things happen. This is the significance of “collaboration”.

Of all the fantastic attributes of capstone, its inclusiveness is among the best. We work with every school, the more diverse the better. Capstone is extremely flexible and adaptable to any educational scenario, and each program shares common elements with all the others. Sharing special attributes from one program to another is just one of the many joys of working together. We fully embrace the “all”.

We are looking forward to employing our mission statement in all of our capstone events and digital venues!
