The Consortium has been busy of late. Not only are we active in our Mighty Network, offering new programming like our “Getting Started” forum, we are doing some deep work on who we are and how we operate.
With the help of our team and some professionals, we hammered out our mission statement — see our June post for details. This helps us focus on our tasks and what to say “yes” to in the future. It has worked very well so far.
Now we have moved on to our organizational style. We are known for being inclusive and delegating projects. Some might call us a “flat” group. As we take on more projects and become more formal with our operations, what structure should we take on? This is important, to honor the interests of those now directly involved with the team, and for those who may join us in the future.
This has lead to some fascinating “rabbit hole” experiences. Should we be a “holacracy,” embracing the truly open structure that it represents? How about a traditional hierarchy, complete with an org chart? Somewhere in between? We are scouring the web for the best ideas to include in our system.
Again, we have a motivated team with good connections. We are confident that we will create a productive and lasting model that will serve us well, and the teams of the future. Stay tuned for what we come up with.
Note: Curious how open we are? Come join us and work on a project? Contact me for more information (address in the “Our Team” page).
